TruConnection.com is a place to write and meet others. How you express yourself through writing + your photo makes for the best first impression when meeting online, and is the best foundation for a meaningful connection. 

Once you register, you are free to write anything you like, or write based on the daily "5 Minute Write" topic. You can also upload your writing as well as your artwork or photography.

In addition, you may visit the new Discussion Forum section and create a discussion topic, or comment on an existing one. The Discussion Forum is a more casual way of interacting with other members.

TruConnection.com is currently open to new members in and around New York City, Boston, Massachusetts, and Portland, Oregon

Getting started is simple:

Register.

Complete a basic info form and upload a thumbnail photo of yourself. This photo will be visible to other members. You may upload additional photos by selecting the 'Darkroom' icon on the home page.

Create.

Write about anything you choose, or write based on the "5 Minute Write" topic listed daily atop your Home page. You may also upload pieces you have written, as well as your artwork or photography. Provide a title for each work you create/upload for easy retrieval. Your work is accessible at any time under 'My Shelf' on the home page, and can be edited or deleted by you at any time.

Search. 

Find others based on age, location, orientation, and sort by recent writing/upload, or total writings/uploads. View written works, uploaded works, and thumbnail photo.

Connect.

Send a Message, Chat (if member is online), Follow (be alerted when member adds content), or Request Access to Photos. For the last option, a member will be alerted that you are requesting to see more photos, and they may provide you with a password to view their photos.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. I am not a writer and not creative. Is this site still for me?

Self-expression comes in many forms, and is not exclusive to creative individuals. Many people who say they are not writers actually write quite often and quite well in the form of tweets and status updates. Others may choose to not write at all, but share their photography or artwork. So yes, the site may still be a good fit for you.

2. How often should I write or upload my work?

This is completely up to you; however, we encourage you to write something each day. We will list daily suggested writing topics on your Home page to make this easier. The more you write and share, the more other members can get to know you. 

3. Is there a minimum or maximum to what I can write or upload?

No minimum, and a reasonable maximum which one would be unlikely to reach. Some members may upload lengthy writings and extensive artwork collections, while others may simply write very short pieces.

4. What is the charity initiative all about?

We selected charities which our members will automatically be supporting by signing up. Members choose one charitable organization from the ones listed which they would like to support. These charities are small organizations in NYC and Boston that promote literary and art skills among inner city youths.

5. What is the cost for TruConnection.com?

TruConnection.com is currently 100% free.

When we begin charging nominal fees to new members, $2/month of these fees will go to one of the aforementioned charities. There are no additional or hidden charges.

6. If I do not wish to give to charity, will my monthly fee be $2/month lower?

No, the charity initiative is our pledge to support these local organizations, and is built into the membership fee.

7. Can I choose a different charity to support with a percentage of my fees, rather than one of yours?

You may request this by emailing info@TruConnection.com with a description of the charity and a link to its website. 

8. Are there additional costs to access other features on the site?

No. The monthly fee will encompass all services on TruConnection.com, including customer support and functionality upgrades.

9. Is TruConnection.com compatible with mobile devices?

TruConnection.com can currently be accessed by mobile devices, and we are in the process of developing mobile applications for full compatibility. 

10. Will you be expanding into other cities besides New York City and Boston? 

Ultimately, yes. For now, we are focused on these two regions.

11. I see 'Weekly Deals' on the site. What is this?

We are partnering with local businesses to sponsor dates for our members. For example, one week it may be a restaurant in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and a museum in Manhattan that are offering discounts for our members.

12. I see a LIKE and COMMENT button after I read someone's writing or upload. Is this public?

No. Your likes and comments are ONLY visible to the member that authored the content.

13. What is 'Set up Auto-Follow'?

Auto-follow allows you to set criteria for whom you want to follow. For example, you can set it up to auto-follow men in Boston/Cambridge that are between 30 and 40 years old. This means that every time someone that fits these parameters adds content to the site, you will be alerted...even if they sign up after you set it up.

Additionally, you can follow members at any time by selecting the FOLLOW icon when viewing them.

14. If I 'follow' someone, will they know about it?

No. This simply triggers an alert to you when they add content to the site, and you can respond to them on your own if you wish.
